A Dearth of Dog Data
We are thrilled to be involved in another survey focused on dog buying/adoption/fostering experiences. Working with fellow campaigners with the credibility of PupAid, Canine Action UK and CARIAD is an honour. We are especially pleased because in our experience, there is an unforgiveable dearth of relevant data available in the area of rescue and rehomed dogs. Without good data making informed policy decisions is very difficult.
The Great British Ex-Breeder Survey 2017
Following the success of The Great British Puppy Survey in 2016, and the significant data gathered about the puppy buying habits of the UK public, welfare groups C.A.R.I.A.D., PupAid, The Karlton Index and Canine Action UK have officially launched The Great British Ex-Breeding Dog Survey in Primrose Hill at PupAid 2017.
The survey can be found here Great British Ex-Breeding Dog Survey
This is the first survey of its kind that looks at the experiences of people who have adopted or fostered dogs when their breeding lives are over, regardless of which type of breeder or breeding establishment they have come from.
Results will be shared across the canine welfare community
The survey will gather information about the physical and psychological health and welfare of the UK’s rescued or retired breeding dogs over the last 7 years and as with the Great British Puppy Survey, the results will be shared in a Report later in the year, with the wider canine welfare community.
We urge all rescues and breed clubs to share the Survey with their social media followers and members to ensure the widest range of experiences with ex-breeding dogs are included.
The Great British Ex-Breeding Dog Survey will run until November 4, 2017.
Share far and wide
The response we had to the Great British Puppy Survey in 2015 – 2016 was phenomenal with 4000 puppy buyers sharing their experiences with us. The results of that survey are available here. The findings have helped inform our strategy and shape our campaigns. Please share the link far and wide, it will provide us with real insight into the lives of breeding dogs.
