At least one parent MUST be DNA tested "Clear" or known to be "Hereditary Clear" for a "safe" mating. It was fascinating and heartening. I look forward to keeping up with their progress. Well done to those that are fighting the battle for improved health at the coal face. I appreciate it is not easy - in fact let's face it - it is the hardest of challenges. But they are trying. The Club website is updated regularly and has a big section on health issues and issues are discussed at Committee Meetings four times a year. There is only one Club for smooth collies so makes addressing health problems much easier although gene pool is very small. Rough and smooth collies are separate breeds with similar but not identical health problems.
